Morro Bay Golf Course – Home Away From Home

Morro Bay golf course. This public course is a real gem for any local in San Luis Obispo County. I often came here fatigued from studying for the Nursing Home Administrator exam.

This course replicates a full-length championship course very well. It is more complicated than it looks and is a good test of skill.

Located on the back side of Morro Bay, next to campgrounds and Estero Bay, one can find solace and sublime, peaceful views from both the front and back nine. This course provides a good escape from the hustle and bustle due to the number of trees and quiet ocean breeze that winds through the course.

Don’t let the serenity distract you from the reality of the course. This one is a test of even the most seasoned golfer.

Every hole has slopes and would require hiking boots for the average walker. (just joking)

In addition to the slopes, the greens are some of the toughest you’ll find in SLO county.

TIP – it breaks toward the ocean… usually.

Arguably the weather is the best part, indeed cooler than St. George, Utah. Summer months can get windy in the afternoon. If you are traveling to play here, I recommend the fall/winter months to find the best conditions.

Morro Bay is an excellent place for a weekend getaway or even a longer-term vacation with friends and family; if chosen, bring your clubs!

Go Play It!

Humblebrag… Here is a great pic of my 300-yard drive from hole 13 looking back to the tee box … you’re going to enjoy hole 13!
